Position Overview
We are looking for a Finance Manager to manage and optimize our financial processes, reporting, and strategy. This role requires a detail-oriented, analytical thinker who can provide strategic financial insights to guide the company’s growth. As a key member of our team, you will collaborate across departments to ensure financial stability and compliance while identifying opportunities for cost optimization and revenue growth.
This position is fully remote, allowing candidates to work from anywhere within Canada.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
- Prepare, analyze, and present accurate financial reports to senior management and stakeholders.
- Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with regulations.
- Manage month-end and year-end closing processes, including reconciliation of accounts.
- Monitor and assess financial performance against forecasts, identifying areas for improvement and providing actionable recommendations.
- Lead financial planning processes, including long-term strategy and annual budget preparation.
- Ensure compliance with Canadian tax laws and regulations, including filing of GST/HST and other statutory returns.
- Collaborate with external auditors and manage the audit process to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Evaluate investment opportunities and provide financial analysis to support decision-making.
- Build and manage relationships with financial institutions, vendors, and other external partners.
- Support HR and operations teams with payroll processing and benefits administration.
- Stay updated on financial best practices, market trends, and regulatory changes, adapting strategies as necessary.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- CPA designation or equivalent certification (CFA, CMA) preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial management or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting standards, tax regulations, and financial reporting requirements.
- Proficiency in financial software and tools such as QuickBooks, SAP, or Microsoft Dynamics.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for financial modeling and analysis.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Effective communication and leadership skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while meeting deadlines and deliverables.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a remote work environment.
- Familiarity with financial regulations specific to Canadian provinces.
- Knowledge of cloud-based financial tools and ERP systems.
- Proven experience in financial strategy development for scaling businesses.
